Welcome to Gexplain! This guide will help you set up your account, configure your AI models, and start researching faster than ever.

1. Getting Started

Installation

  1. Go to the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click Add to Chrome.
  3. Pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access.

2. Connecting Your Account

To unlock advanced features like History Sync and Multi-Model support, you need to connect the extension to your Gexplain Cloud account.

Get your Key

Go to your Dashboard and copy the "Extension Key".

Paste in Extension

Open the extension popup, go to Settings, and paste the key into the "Gexplain Cloud Key" field.

3. Using AI Models

Gexplain supports multiple AI providers. You can bring your own API keys to use premium models.

Supported Models

  • Google GeminiFree / Fast
  • OpenAI (GPT-4o)Premium
  • Anthropic (Claude 3.5)Premium

How to configure: Go to the Dashboard and enter your API keys for OpenAI or Anthropic. The extension will automatically detect them!

4. Key Features

Contextual Explanations

Select any text on a webpage and click "Explain". Gexplain understands the context and gives you a relevant answer.

Chat Follow-up

Need more details? Use the chat box in the explanation window to ask follow-up questions.

Personas

Switch between "ELI5" (Simple), "Expert" (Technical), or even "Sarcastic" modes to get the explanation style you need.

Text-to-Speech

Click the speaker icon 🔊 to listen to the explanation while you read.
